Family Values

Family Values As a Christian, I believe that God knows us and fills us with life at the moment we are conceived. I am a strong supporter of the right to life and am committed to protecting the lives of all people, especially those unable to protect themselves. Access to health services for low-income women is an important goal, and it is one that can be realized without supporting a practice that many Americans find morally repugnant. I will continue to support legislation that restricts the federal funding of abortion facilities and organizations that provide abortions. I have co-sponsored several bills this Congress that would help to protect and promote a culture of life in Washington: I will continue to support pro-life legislation and initiatives as long as I am your representative in Washington. Marriage is much more than a convenient living arrangement, it is an institution designed to uphold the basic unit of society – the family. I support federal laws and a constitutional amendment to define marriage in the United States as a union of one man and one woman. While states have the power to recognize relationships as they choose, the federal government should not force a state to accept a redefinition of marriage. We should reserve federal legal recognition for traditional marriage, because that is what best protects our families and our children. We must continue to uphold the values that are nation was founded upon. It’s time that we stand up, defend our family values and protect the sanctity of marriage, the family and the unborn.
