Conaway Chronicle: Town Halls, Permian Basin Honor Flight, and Service Academy Nomination
__________________________________________

Thank you for reading The Conaway Chronicle, a review of my activities in Congress. Sorry for the delayed delivery of the Conaway Chronicle.  The House of Representatives computer system had some technological problems on Friday.

Permian Basin Honor Flight:

I want to thank the organizers of the Permian Basin Honor Flight for including me in their event in Midland on Jan. 21st.  The Honor Flight program brings older veterans to Washington, D.C., to visit the World War II memorial and other memorials.  The Honor Flights mean a lot to these veterans and are a way for the rest of us to thank them for their service to our country.  Please click here to go to the Texas Permian Basin Honor Flight website.

March For Life:

January 22nd was the 41st anniversary of the Supreme Court's Roe v. Wade decision. The March For Life was started by Big Spring, Texas, native Nellie Gray.  I will continue to fight to defend the sanctity of human life. This is not a political battle that I am engaged in. This is about what is fundamentally right.  The below photograph of Nellie Gray at the 2010 March was taken by Renate Grzan.  Nellie Gray passed away in 2012.

Permian Basin Cotton Conference:

I appreciated the farmers at the Permian Basin Cotton Conference sharing their ideas and thoughts with me. The conference was put on by the Texas AgriLife Extension Service.  I am optimistic that in the near future, Congress will complete work on a Farm Bill that provides certainty for cotton farmers and a fair safety net.

Town Halls:

This week I had the opportunity to meet with residents of Breckenridge, Clyde, Coleman, Comanche, Mineral Wells, Stephenville, and Sterling City.  The thoughts and ideas that you share with me during these meetings play a central role in helping me make decisions.  Furthermore, the men and women who live in the 11th District are great and I just enjoying having the opportunity to talk with them.  I appreciate your support for my efforts to reduce federal spending and cut the bureaucratic red tape that are holding our national economy back.

Tarleton State Texans:

I am enjoying following the Tarleton State men's basketball team.  They are having one heck of a season.  They are undefeated and currently ranked fourth in the nation.  I hope they keep playing like this and give me the opportunity to congratulate them on the House floor.  The below photograph was taken by Nathan Bural, who is with Tarleton State, and was published in the Stephenville Empire-Tribune.

Service Academy Nomination:

This week I had the opportunity to make official presentations to the young adults from the district whom I have nominated to the military academies. I always enjoy meeting these young adults and their families. I am impressed by their desire to serve our country.

As always, you can follow me on Facebook, YouTube, and Twitter.

Sincerely,

Rep. Mike Conaway, 11th District
