Thank you for reading The Conaway Chronicle, a review of my activities in Congress and the 11th District.

President Obama's Latest Plan to Close Guantanamo

On Monday, the same day that President Obama laid out an incredibly irresponsible plan to close the Guantanamo Bay Detention Facility, sacrificing the safety and security of American citizens in pursuit of his personal legacy, a former Guantanamo Bay detainee was arrested in Spain for his ties to ISIS.

Under President Obama’s plan, terrorists currently detained at Guantanamo Bay will be moved to a yet-to-be-determined facility within the United States- essentially, these terrorists could be moved to any number of locations throughout our communities. After seven years of failing to provide any convincing arguments for closing the Guantanamo Bay Detention Facility, the President’s desperation is painfully apparent in his final year in office. It is absolutely unacceptable to endanger our national security by allowing any terrorists on American soil- my colleagues and I will simply not allow it.

Visiting Morgan Mills School

In November, I had the privilege of joining the community and school in Morgan Mill for their annual Thanksgiving Dinner, during which they bring in and honor troops from Fort Hood. The 8th grade class is responsible for organizing, promoting, serving meals, and cleaning up. I was so proud of what they did for our troops that I stopped by last week to present certificates of recognition for all their efforts.

Honored to Receive the Golden Plow Award

I'm beyond honored to have received the Golden Plow Award from the American Farm Bureau Federation this week. It is truly a privilege to work on behalf of America's dedicated farmers and ranchers as Chairman of the Agriculture Committee. After the presentation, the Farm Bureau put together a great video that you can watch by clicking here or on the picture below:
