Tax Cuts Signed Into Law

Over the holidays, President Trump signed the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act into law, delivering on the promise the Republican party made to lower taxes and jump start the economy. This legislation provides tax cuts for hardworking, lower- and middle-income American families and doubles the standard deduction so that the first $24,000 a family makes is completely tax free. We've expanded support to families by doubling the Child Tax Credit to $2,000 per child, and preserved both the Child and Dependent Care Tax Credit and the Adoption Tax Credit. Other provisions, including graduate student tuition waivers and the tax credit for teachers purchasing supplies for the classroom out of pocket have also been maintained under this law.

Small businesses and larger companies will no longer be subjected to some of the highest tax rates in the world, allowing them to create more jobs and reinvest in the American economy. Companies like AT&T, Comcast, Wells Fargo, Boeing, and more have responded to this positive news by handing out bonuses to non-management staff and raising their minimum wages.
