Conaway Chronicle: Congressional Art Competition, Midland Convention Center Groundbreaking, Town Hall Recap
Thank you for reading The Conaway Chronicle, a review of my activities in Congress and the 11th District.
Congressional Art Competition
On Saturday, I had the pleasure of hosting the 2017 Congressional Art Competition for the 11th District of Texas. We had 32 students enter the competition from around the district, and I appreciate the students that came to Angelo State University for the presentations of certificates and awards and reception.
Kristen Power of Lee High School in Midland was named the winner of the Art Competition, and her piece will be displayed in the U.S. Capitol for the next year with the other winning pieces from all over the country. Her piece is titled "Molting of Me".
Thank you, President Brian May, and ASU for providing the West Texas Collections Gallery as the venue, and I appreciate members of art department serving as judges.
Midland Convention Center Groundbreaking
This week, I got to take part in the groundbreaking ceremony for the new Midland Convention Center. This will be a terrific new facility, giving Midland the opportunity to host multiple events simultaneously. CBS7 News was there to capture the event, which you can view here.
Town Hall Recap
Thanks to all who made the trip out to one of my town halls this week in Colorado City and Andrews. We've had some really terrific conversations about healthcare, tax reform, national security and many other topics of interest. I am continually impressed by the way in which District 11 constituents are able to express their opinions in a way that is respectful to one another. I appreciate everyone taking the time out of their day to participate and have your voice heard!
As always, you can follow me on
