Conaway Chronicle: Facebook Live Town HallAgriculture Committee Hearing on Rural InfrastructureVisiting with Midland Buffalo Trail Boy Scouts

Thank you for reading The Conaway Chronicle, a review of my activities in Congress and the 11th District.

Facebook Live Town Hall

Wednesday afternoon, I held a Facebook Live town hall to hear from constituents like you about the issues that matter most. Holding town halls through Facebook, or over the phone, allow me to stay in touch with you even when I have to be in DC for votes and committee hearings. The video of the town hall is still on my Facebook page, which you can find here. You can also sign up for future telephone town hall meetings here, and check out my website where we'll announce upcoming in-person town halls around TX-11.

Agriculture Committee Hearing on Rural Infrastructure

America’s heartland deserves to be front-and-center as we look to upgrade our aging infrastructure. From rural broadband, to ag research, to transportation – rural America faces its own set of challenges and considerations. Wednesday, the House Agriculture Committee held a hearing to examine how we can best support rural America. Among our panel of witnesses was TX-11 constituent Jennifer Otwell of De Leon, Texas, testifying on behalf of Totelcom Communications and the Rural Broadband Association.

Our manufacturing sector depends on products produced in the heartland to create the ‘made in America’ products that create jobs and grow our economy. I applaud the president for drawing attention to this important matter and appreciate the efforts of the Rebuild Rural coalition to share rural America's story with the rest of our nation.

Visiting with Midland Buffalo Trail Boy Scouts

Monday morning, I got to visit with 36 Buffalo Trail Boy Scouts of America from my hometown of Midland, Texas. It’s great to see these young men challenging themselves to earn merits while upholding the high standards of this organization in our district. They had a fun time exploring DC and learning more about our nation's history, and I enjoyed getting to share a piece of what I do with them.

As always, you can follow me on Facebook, YouTube, and Twitter.
