BORDENTOWN, NJ — One of Bordentown Township's fire companies has been awarded a federal grant to fund critically needed department resources.
Bordentown Township Fire District 2 has received a $103,205 Assistance to Firefighters Grant (AFG). The funding, administered by FEMA, is aimed at meeting the firefighting and emergency response needs of fire departments and non-affiliated emergency medical service organizations.
“Firefighters and first responders are there for our communities when we need them most, often putting their own safety on the line to protect their neighbors,” said Congressman Herb Conaway (NJ-03). “This federal funding will help ensure our local departments and first responder organizations have the resources, equipment, and support they need to respond effectively to emergencies."
Established in 2001, the AFG grant program helps firefighters acquire protective gear, equipment, emergency vehicles, training and other resources necessary to protect the public from fire and fire-related hazards.
